Vendor Feature: Tiers of Joy
It was love at first sight when we set our eyes on a towering cake atop its costar, a stand dripping in sparkling crystals. It was made by Tiers of Joy, an LA-based husband and wife team specializing in custom crystal creations for weddings and special events.
We sat down with Taryn, psychologist by day and crystal creator and Tiers of Joy co-founder by night (and weekend), and asked her a few questions. We think you’ll love what she has to say; it’s quite inspiring.
Continue on to see our chat. Also, keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming rental giveaway courtesy of Tiers of Joy… it’s going to be fabulous! A BIG thanks goes to Taryn with taking some time out of her busy schedule to chat with us; it was our pleasure.
Love, Raya
We read you had a crystal themed wedding. Have you always loved crystals? I’ve loved crystals for as long as I can remember! I was definitely influenced by my mom’s love of crystals, who filled our home with her collection of Swarovski figurines. My dad would take me and my brother to the Swarovski store every year for Mother’s Day and her birthday to pick out a gift for her. When I got older I often left with a gift for myself too!
What’s the best part of your job? I love so many things about my “job” but my favorite part is getting to help make a celebratory event as beautiful and special as possible! It’s funny to think of Tiers of Joy as a job because it’s so much fun and it’s something that my husband and I get to do together. We both have day jobs. I’m a psychologist for a non-profit community mental health center, so during the day I help people who are often going through the hardest times of their life. Tiers of Joy allows me to engage with people when they are going through some of the happiest times of their life so it is a great balance.
What’s been your favorite crystal creation? The very first cake stand my husband and I made together for our wedding!
Do you have any plans for expansion in the future? We are currently busy designing more centerpieces and unique decor pieces, many of which are multi-functional, that will eventually be available for local rentals. We hope to make our products more accessible by having them sold on popular wedding/event supply online sites and also by having authorized Tiers of Joy rental representatives across the country so people other than Southern Californians can save money by renting our products.
Tiers of Joy’s pieces are available for rental in the Los Angeles area and for purchase worldwide. Among their pieces are cake stands, cupcake stands, centerpieces and more. Visit their website or Facebook page for more information.

Inspiration: Sparkling Gold and Silver
We’re enchanted by sparkling silver and gold, whether in the form of crystals, sequins or glitter. We’re in love with a silver sequin-bodice bridesmaid dress (it’s about time) and a dazzling couture cake fit for a princess.
Sparkle needn’t be restricted to your wedding day; paint it on your fingers for a day out shopping or wear a pair of drop crystal ball earrings with an otherwise drab ensemble.
