Cakes that sparkle are among our favorites. Whether it features a diamond-encrusted design on each tier or is dusted in sugar crystals or shimmer powder, a cake that glistens in the light wins us over every time.

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but to be fabulous a cake doesn’t have to be decked out in Swarovski crystals; one sparkling area at the side or top is all you need to up the glamour quotient.

In the Spring 2012 bridal collections we once again see color, beige in particular.

Last weekend we saw a slew of beige-based gowns float down the runway at Romona Keveza, Monique Lhuillier and Watters and Watters, among others.

Could beige become the new ivory? Beige offers brides the choice of an intriguingly soft, romantic and atypical hue while not being too bold. Trends come and go, but for a certain set of brides the movement from traditional colors continues.

Yesterday I had the absolute privilege to be a part of POP, The Bridal Event. The turnout was wonderful, the weather held up and everybody had a great time. Plus, the fashion show was a highlight. Seeing gorgeous Ines Di Santo gown after gorgeous gown modeled down the runway was so thrilling. Oh, and seeing David Tutera and Niecy Nash wasn’t bad, either!

One of the great things about being in the wedding industry is having the opportunity to participate in such events. To see and chat with soon-to-be brides, wedding lovers and fellow vendors who are so in love with what they do always leaves me feeling invigorated. There is always so much love, inspiration and smiles that fill the air!

We’re enchanted by sparkling silver and gold, whether in the form of crystals, sequins or glitter. We’re in love with a silver sequin-bodice bridesmaid dress (it’s about time) and a dazzling couture cake fit for a princess.

Sparkle needn’t be restricted to your wedding day; paint it on your fingers for a day out shopping or wear a pair of drop crystal ball earrings with an otherwise drab ensemble.

Old-school glitz and glamour has seen an unpresendented comeback in recent years in the wedding industry and beyond. Whether it’s 40s Old Hollywood, 50s feminine with volume, 60s lady lace, or a carefree and simple 70s style, a retro-inspired wedding gown is desirable to many a bride. We even saw an 80s-style number from Chaviano Couture’s Fall 2011 collection that seems updated rather than outdated.

Hints of retro detail include any of the following: sparkle, liquid satin, a feminine neckline in the form of a draped cowl neck, halter top or a completely covered neckline for the demure bride, lace, a gorgeous headpiece and/or pearls.

This past Bridal Market Vera Wang offered up frothy hues of gray and nude while we saw fairly tale blue sparkles at Ines Di Santo. Romona Kaveza presented bold blue and green gowns at her most recent show, and Oscar de la Renta unveiled dresses in soft of blue and pink.

Color has never been cooler.

It was a success!

Two weeks ago this Sunday, brides and company made their way through the rain to Calabasas Creek Park to partake in the fabulous “Everything Wedding” Bridal Show.

The Leonis Adobe Museum/Calabasas Creek Park and Sarah Z Events organized a fabulous first show, complete with 25 exhibitors. Also, R-Mine Bridal put on a dazzling couture show, with the models braving the cool air in their exquisite wedding gowns.

The park made for the perfect backdrop, with its charming feel and abundance of trees and creeks. The beauty of the park made us forget the cool and rainy weather!

We were delighted with the amazing turnout, and everybody appeared to be in happy spirits. We sold most our samples, and took order upon order of our custom “Soon to be Mrs…” shirt.
