Weddings these days are seemingly centered on bicolor themes, or a two-colors-with-an-accent color palette.
It’s time to shake things up a bit. What about the bright colors we were crazy about as kids? Even now, think of the joy that seeing a rainbow brings, or seeing colorful balloons at the carnival. This same joy can bleed into your wedding color scheme (and theme).
The places to inject color are endless. For those going for all-out color shock, this is the time to have some fun. White bridal gowns with a hint of rainbow, along with appropriate accessories, are just the start. Chair covers in varying primary and secondary colors can add a splash of color to a reception hall. Colorful flowers, whether just in the bridal bouquet, all bouquets, or in the floral décor throughout the ceremony and reception venues, are sure to lift your guests’ spirits. Serve colorful cupcakes, or add a splash of color to aspects of your centerpieces, like candles and glass vases.
To avoid color overload, however, concentrate on the smaller details or a few larger items. A little color can go a long way.

Lemon Wedding Theme
To make create this fresh new theme for your wedding or bridal shower, basically, think lemon and then think all shades of yellow, yellow, and yellow. In some small way, try to incorporate a little yellow or lemon touch into the most important aspects of your unique wedding theme. You can include lemons in your centerpieces, lemonade on your sweets table, and a delicious lemon flavor cake! Other aspects you can include lemon yellow into are invitations and dresses.
Invitations: The invitation is the first thing guests will see that sets the stage for a theme wedding. Make them simple, classy, and elegant.
Dresses: The greatest thing about a unique theme wedding is that it can truly be as unique as you want it to be. Your dress is no exception. You can find a wide variety of bridesmaid dresses in canary yellow. However, who says only the bridesmaids and the wedding party can wear a color? Consider switching things up and select a yellow wedding dress while your attendants wear white this time instead.
If your wedding plans include an open bar consider serving lemon drop martinis as your wedding specialty or either Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
Wedding Cake: If you would like a traditional wedding cake select a yellow cake with buttercream icing. Other choices include lemon poundcake or adding a lemon filling to the cake. If you’d like something different and a little less traditional, lemon meringue pie would be delicious as well as lemon cheesecake!
Favors: For guest favors, again think yellow and think lemon. Yellow Lemonheads come packaged individually, loose in bulk, or in the cute theater sized boxes. Couple yellow Lemonheads with a funny or quirky poem and these would definitely be cute and unique wedding favors. If candy isn’t exactly your style or if you’d prefer something a bit more classic, try a lemon scented candle.
Inside Kendra Wilkinson’s Wedding!
July 2, 2009 at 5:30 PM
We were lucky enough to be able to chat up Nicole Hirsty of Cobalt Events (cobaltevents.com) this afternoon. Nicole helped former Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson pull off her recent wedding at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles and she was nice enough to share some of the incredible details. Here are some highlights…
The color palette…
Lavender and white. Kendra liked the way the colors looked together and they fit in perfectly with the classic, fairy-tale wedding she envisioned.
The bouquets…
The bouquets featured roses and orchids. To incorporate the purple, LA Premier (lapremier.com) added braided lavender and white ribbon into the base of the bridesmaid bouquets.
The ceremony locale…
Marrying in front of the wishing well at the mansion was very significant to Kendra. Nicole and her team decked it out with an all-white triple arch the featured a pave of roses, draped chiffon and a floral chandelier. Floral balls lined the aisle.
The reception…
The reception was also on the grounds of the mansion, in a gorgeously decorated tent draped on the top and sides with chiffon. Chandeliers adorned with ostrich feathers illuminated the space and projections of pictures of Kendra and Hank played throughout the night. The table were decorated with custom white tufted linens and beautiful tall centerpieces that included lavender, roses, hydrangea and orchids and were draped with crystals. The head table where the newlyweds sat was lined with white boxes filled with hydrangea, lavender, orchids and roses.
The favors…
At each setting, the couple gave guests almond-shaped chocolates from Gourmandise Paris (gourmandiseparis.com) that matched the lavender and white color scheme. At the end of the night, guests could also munch on monogrammed football-shaped cookies (provided by Weddingish.com), which were displayed on a bed of wheatgrass as an ode to the groom who is a professional football player.
