We’re not talking corseted-back gowns; we’re looking at the front!

Most wedding gowns with corset-style bodices aren’t meant to achieve the benefits of traditional corsets. However, many mimic the shape, and therefore femininity. We spy several dreamy corset-style dresses in the Spring 2012 bridal collections. Some designers are even going the extra mile with embellished bodices. Monique Lhuillier really took charge with a collection chalk-full of boned corset-style bodices; Ines Di Santo, too.

Is a bridal gown with a corset-style bodice too bold of a statement for the average bride?

We always have so much fun dissecting bridal gown trends. Though it’s a lot of work, sifting through photos from Bridal Market always makes us wish that we were once again planning our own weddings. There are no longer bridal fashion rules. Below we love the bronze sequined sweetheart bodice of the BHLDN gown and the sweet sequin-sprinkled back of the Alina Pizzano dress. We’re also delighted by the possibilities of a playful kimono atop a simple frock.
