Inspiration: Cotton Candy

Fairy floss was introduced in the late 1890s, and back then it was a pricey treat. Later on in the 1920s it became known as cotton candy. Spun sugar on a stick is popular at carnivals and theme parks, but because of its soft color, affordability and volume, cotton candy is a nice dessert/decor/prop option for weddings.

Even those without a sweet tooth can admit that cotton candy, in all its fluffy glory, adds whimsy to a celebration. We love fairy floss on desserts and drinks, as a voluminous backdrop on candy buffets, as favors in a bag with a personalized note, or placed atop cakes and cupcakes. How fun!

Vintage Elements

We’re fans of weddings with anything from A Vintage Touch to a full-on retro influence. Modern elements and themes have their time and place, but vintage items tend to have an unparalleled weathered, romantic feel that so many couples are incorporating into their wedding day theme.

Below we love a lacy vintage garter with a subdued floral fabric as its backdrop, and the mystery behind the toughened chest intrigues us. The marble mantel is a perfect setting for antique picture frames and knickknacks, and a glass vase with befitting pink flowers makes for the perfect centerpiece.

“Everything Wedding” Bridal Show

It was a success!

Two weeks ago this Sunday, brides and company made their way through the rain to Calabasas Creek Park to partake in the fabulous “Everything Wedding” Bridal Show.

The Leonis Adobe Museum/Calabasas Creek Park and Sarah Z Events organized a fabulous first show, complete with 25 exhibitors. Also, R-Mine Bridal put on a dazzling couture show, with the models braving the cool air in their exquisite wedding gowns.

The park made for the perfect backdrop, with its charming feel and abundance of trees and creeks. The beauty of the park made us forget the cool and rainy weather!

We were delighted with the amazing turnout, and everybody appeared to be in happy spirits. We sold most our samples, and took order upon order of our custom “Soon to be Mrs…” shirt.
