Fun & Fabulous Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

Not too often is rehearsal dinner synonymous with fun. But, it’s true – often the most memorable rehearsal or welcome dinners are accompanied by entertainment. After all, this is the time where people may be meeting each other for the first time, and you want them to mingle in as cozy and fun of an atmosphere as possible.

Weddingish has compiled a list of three sure-fire ways to host a great time. Nothing makes your guests more excited for a wedding than a rehearsal/welcome dinner that’s a big hit!

Picnic & Horseshoes

Host an outdoor picnic or barbeque (weather permitting), complete with gingham tablecloths, picnic totes and lemonade. On a budget? Make it a potluck occasion, but don’t require your guests to do too much work! After the meal, or while still lingering over dessert, host a game of horseshoes or anything equally fun that can be played outdoors. It’s a simple, yet romantic, idea.

Pizza & Bowling

For our rehearsal dinner (not pictured above), my husband and I ordered pizza and sodas. Since we were having a formal wedding, we opted for a casual rehearsal dinner. After dinner we hosted a bowling competition at the local bowling alley, which we rented out for two hours. The winning team’s members each received a caramel apple from a local sweets shop. Needless to say, the event was a success.

Dinner & Movie

Rather than a “date” style event out, host the event at your place (or the home of anybody who is willing to offer up their space). Fix up anything from a budget-friendly Italian meal, complete with spaghetti and garlic bread, to your favorite cuisine, served with wine and a phenomenal dessert. Don’t forget to enlist your bridesmaids for help! And if the accommodations fit, entertain guests afterwards by screening a movie in-house. If you don’t have a large area in which to show a flick, splurge a bit and take your guests to the movies.
