Real Wedding: Chris and Tim, Bedford, New York
When Martha Stewart is your aunt, your wedding has to be this beautiful! Martha hosted her nephew’s wedding and the details are perfection!
Grooms Christopher Herbert and Timothy Long shared a private moment near Martha Stewart’s horse pasture in Bedford, New York. Hosted by the wedding guru herself, Martha Stewart, the details of Chris’ and Tim’s wedding were perfect. Both grooms were elegantly dressed in J. Crew, the centerpiece was designed with white Japanese beautyberry branches and peegee hydrangea, while vintage inkwells and twine-wrapped bottles display jasmine, dahlias, and yellow zinnias. “We chose antique vessels because they’re beautiful, romantic, and have a unique sense of history,” says the couple’s event designer, David Stark of David Stark Design and Production.
The outdoor service was held in front of Martha’s picturesque stone-crafted horse barn. After Chris and Tim reaffirmed their vows in front of 70 of their closest friends and family, they took to the lawn for a garden party replete with lawn games, picnic baskets, a twenties-style jazz band, and a rustic spread of culinary offerings set up to mimic a farmers’ market. Late in the day, with the party in full swing, the couple sneaked away to the horse pasture for a few private photographs. “We had a great view of the reception, so we just stood there and watched for a while,” says Chris. “Everyone was having so much fun, and it looked so romantic. It was everything we could have hoped for.”

Historic Charm: Vintage Postcards
Vintage postcards are a delightful way in which to infuse a wedding’s style with historic charm.
And more and more, we’re seeing vintage postcards being used for more than just the standard save-the-dates. Postcards are being included on place settings, displayed on escort card tables, and are even being staged as a guestbook alternative.
The options are endless, so have some fun and get creative! The image immediately below, for example, showcases a vintage postcard that was transformed into a place card with a simple tie of a rope and a name tag. Also, a typewriter can be used to transform old postcards into something new and too, to personalize the details of the occasion even further.
Vintage postcards aren’t a trend; they’re a wedding stationery option that is here to stay.

Personal Touch: Wedding Stamps
Brides are loving personal touches on everything for their big day. From the wedding cake to the photography to the perfect playlist, brides want elements of their personality integrated into each and every detail of their big day. In fact, we spend so much time finding the perfect stationery, from save-the-dates to invitations to thank you notes, that an oft-overlooked item is one of the first wedding-related details to be seen by the guests: the postage.
Because it’s all in the details, it’s important to find the small elements that needn’t go unnoticed. Placing a wedding-themed stamp on your invitation adds just a little something special to an otherwise mundane detail.
In case you haven’t seen, there is a plethora of wedding-themed stamps from which to choose. You have your pick of postage that relays something special about your wedding. Whether it’s a photo of your bouquet flowers, or an image resembling your ring, you can literally put a unique stamp on your day.
Zazzle.com offers an array of wedding-themed stamps, and USPS.com unveiled wedding stamps last year. At zazzle.com, customers have their pick of Small, Medium, or Large. Though the stamps cost more than their face value (a sheet of 20 small stamps, for example, costs $20.60), it’s a small price to pay for a unique wedding detail.
And for an easy way to tie everything together, aside from sending matching stationery, purchase the same stamp in bulk. Use the same style stamp for your save-the-dates, thank you cards, and any other item included in your stationery repertoire. It’s a simple way to ensure your theme remains constant. But if you prefer variety, stamps with “RSVP” or “You’re Invited” are also available.
Which stamp will look perfect on your wedding invitation?
