Favor Ideas: Jordan Almonds
Handing out wedding favors to your guests has been a tradition for centuries. Wedding favors are simply a token of appreciation to guests for joining the bride and groom on their special day. Centuries ago, wedding favors were simply sugar cubes in small boxes .
Today wedding favors have become far more sophisticated and with that comes additional expense and strain on the wedding budget. However, you can still keep the tradition without breaking your budget by using the traditional and much loved Jordan Almonds for your wedding favors! Now with so many creative and elegant ways to present Jordan Almonds you can bring back the tradition with elegance.
The Jordan Almond originated in Ancient Rome and have a significant symbolism. The bitter taste of the almonds represents the difficult times in a marriage, while the candy coating symbolizes being blessed with good times. Together, the almond and its candy coating represent the reality of marriage, “in good times and in bad.” The sweet taste slightly overpowers the nut, which is symbolic of a successful marriage.
Hint: When giving Jordan Almonds as favors, remember each individual wedding favor should contain an odd number of almonds. An even number is divisible, which could lead to the separation of the married couple in the future. An odd number is preferable because it cannot be divided. In Middle Eastern tradition, each guest should receive exactly five almonds, representing happiness, wealth, health, fertility and longevity.
Jordan Almonds are traditionally presented in mini organza bags, however, you may choose from a variety of modern presentation ideas. Find them all at Weddingish!
