Surefire Fabulous Gift Ideas
by Erin
With an engagement comes a slew of celebratory events: the engagement party, the bridal shower, and also the ceremony and reception itself. With each festivity comes the possibility of the inevitable: a gift.
If choosing to stay clear of the registry, it isn’t easy coming up with so many original and personal gifts for the couple and/or the bride. However, if you set your mind to it, there are fantastic, often overlooked gifts to consider. You just need to dedicate a healthy mix of creativity, thoughtfulness, and time to finding that perfect something (or somethings).
Idea 1: Dance Lessons
Affordable Option: Purchase a dance instruction DVD. Try Dance Lessons 101: The Basics and Beyond.
Indulgent Option: Check Craigslist for dance lesson bundles. Often studios or independent instructors advertise discounted rates on multiple dance lessons.
Ideal for: Engagement gift
Idea 2: Trip to the spa
Affordable Option: Include in a basket a variety of spa essentials, like massage oil, body polish, body cream, and aromatherapy oil. Throw in a pair of spa slippers to top it off.
Indulgent Option: Book a few pampering services at a local spa. Affordable options can be found through a discount outlet such as Living Social.
Ideal for: Engagement gift, bridal shower gift, wedding gift
Idea 3: Wedding website
Affordable Option: Using a free wedding website service, like that offered by The Knot, take the task off the bride and groom’s hands and compile a website for the couple.
Indulgent Option: Purchase a year’s worth of hosting for the bride and groom. This can run anywhere from $60-$160, so do your research.
Ideal for: Engagement gift
Idea 4: Scrapbooking kit
Affordable Option: Gift a workshop session at the local crafts store. Stores like Michaels offer a variety of workshops for a low fee or for the price of a product used in the workshop. Pick according to the bride’s hobbies or interests.
Indulgent Option: Purchase a variety of wedding scrapbooking must-haves, like a wedding album, stickers, embellishments, or anything that will suit the bride and groom’s tastes. (Hint: keep the wedding colors in mind.)
Ideal for: Bridal shower gift, wedding gift
Idea 5: Something the bride may need, but will not think of
Affordable Option: A pretty hanger on which to hang her wedding dress.
Indulgent Option: A crystal garter set (if it suits her style).
Ideal for: Bridal shower gift

April 22, 2010 – Jobyna’s Bridal Series
On one Thursday night each month, Jobyna’s Bridal hosts a complimentary bridal event. Each affair is part of a sequence of events in the Jobyna’s Bridal Series, geared towards presenting and discussing a variety of details in order to achieve a perfect wedding. Brides-to-be are encouraged to stop in and get tips, how-to’s, and information from wedding industry specialist and service leaders such as videographers, stationers, stylists, and more, depending on the event.
On Thursday, April 22, Weddingish owner Raya was present for the monthly event. Raya is a proponent of the Bridal Series, and expressed her fondness of the intimate feel of the event she attended a few weeks ago. Mostly, she was delighted to work closely with each bride-to-be.
